CARDLE ‘SECRET’ COMEBACK

COMEBACK star Matt Cardle is working on a top secret pop project with the legendary producer Trevor Horn.

The hitmaker behind Frankie Goes To Hollywood, Seal and Robbie Williams first teamed up with Cardle for his own live shows in 2016.

And now the former X Factor champ is plotting a fresh collab with one of the biggest names in British music.

Matt told me: “We are working on a project with Trevor Horn, it’s his project but I’m involved with it, but it’s top secret so I can’t say too much. But what I can say is I’m definitely

doing more shows over the summer with Trevor, and his band are incredible. The songs of his I get to sing are monumental – Owner Of A Lonely Heart, The Power Of Love, Relax.

“It’s mad to sing these 30 or

40-year-old classic hits to crowds of

40,000 with him.”

Matt’s grown close to Horn’s inner circle and teamed up with his son for a track on his new album, Time To Be Alive.

He explained: “The song Human Nature I wrote with Aaron Horn – Trevor’s son, and it was a more electronic sound that I wanted to chase down and make the most of.”

Lyrically, many of the tracks are about Matt’s battle with prescription drug addiction, but he has no regrets.

He said: “I found myself with so much material to pour into this album. In a sadistic way I was glad of the rehab trouble because

a lot of art comes from a dark painful place, I was glad for that darkness to come.”

Now he’s back in a good place and even willing to return to X Factor.

He said: “I have no ill feeling toward Simon or the show – if they want to chat I’m on the end of the phone.”
