Chester signals trend reversal

- By STUART BRODKIN

RACING UK has lost two courses to new channel Sky Sports Racing.

The rebranding of At The Races has tempted Chester and Bangor to leave RacingUK and join Sky Sports Racing.

It is welcome news for racing fans as At The Races had lost Leicester, Taunton and Stratford to the competition in the last 12 months as well the rights to show racing from Ireland.

‘Sky Sports Racing’ will replace ‘ATR’ and be available to every Sky TV customer in the UK and Ireland at no extra cost.

Managing Director of Sky Sports Barney Francis said: “We’ve seen a great reaction from our customers to launching dedicated sports channels and this takes us to another level.

“Racing is a massive sport and adding Chester (right) and Bangor-on-Dee is fantastic news. We look forward to making Sky Sports Racing a new home for racing fans.”

Matthew Imi, Chief Executive of At The Races, said: “There is no better home for our new channel production facility than Sky Sports’ studios.”

On the betting front, Britbet has revealed it is to launch two new bets rewarding players who get the first four or first five in the correct order.

The two pools will be supported by guaranteed pool sizes. Multi-million-pound prize guarantees will be available for races, such as the Grand National.
