United ace a quick fix

ROMELU LUKAKU will be fit for the FA Cup Final.

The Manchester United striker limped off in the 50th minute of Sunday’s win over Arsenal following a challenge from defender Konstantinos Mavropanos.

But despite initial fears United’s top scorer could be out for the rest of the season, tests revealed he has suffered only bruising to his foot and ankle.

The Belgian is set to be rested for Friday’s trip to Brighton as a precaution, but is certain to be available to face Chelsea at Wembley in the final on May 19.

Team-mate Ashley Young says United must win the cup and lay down a marker for next season.

Landing the FA Cup would be the third trophy boss Jose Mourinho has won in two seasons at Old Trafford.

But Young admits United have still not been good enough and need to show rivals Manchester City and Liverpool what they are capable of between now and the end of the campaign.

The England ace said: “We want to keep winning. There are still games there and points to pick up.

“We want to keep up the momentum to the end of the season and the FA Cup Final. We have to put down a marker for next season, with the way we perform from now on. It is building towards next season.

“It has been one of those seasons when around Christmas we were drawing games, conceding late goals. When you look back at those kind of games, then, you think the season could have been different.

“It wasn’t meant to be, but we have put down a marker against the top four and top six clubs.

“However, it is more than that. We have to win at other clubs as well. We have to win more games than we have done.

Hunger

“If we can finish with the number of points we know we can, then it is a different season and a points total that would have won us the league, but it is not to be. We have to keep the momentum now.”

Young has been one of United’s best and most consistent stars this season, earning himself an England recall.

He is expected to be named in Gareth Southgate’s squad for the World Cup this summer and admits his determination at the age of 32 remains as strong as ever.

Young added: “I still have the hunger and desire to win, just the same as I had when I was 21.

“I am nearly 33 now and getting on a bit, but I still have that hunger and desire to go out and play every game.

“I know my legs can still take me through games and I have showed that with the number of games I have played this season.”
