Bong abuse probed
in January. Brighton have asked Sussex Police to liaise with their Lancashire counterparts over the alleged abuse after being contacted by several travelling fans.
Burnley-born Rodriguez, who spent five years at the club, escaped punishment after an independent review panel found the case “unproven” against him.
Bong insisted after the verdict that he stood by his claim.
The FA released a statement condemning Bong’s treatment.
It said: “The FA considers the behaviour of some supporters on Saturday towards Gaeten Bong to be unacceptable. It needs repeating, following the recent disciplinary matter, that there was no suggestion by any party involved in that case that the player made a malicious or fabricated complaint.
“The FA is wholly satisfied the complaint was made in good faith. The FA takes all allegations of discrimination extremely seriously.”
Bong has been given the backing of his Brighton team-mates.
Striker Glenn Murray said: “I don’t think it’s very fair. I don’t think it’s just that he is getting booed for something that he believes is true.
“Who is to question Gaetan? No-one else heard it. I don’t think he would have any reason to make it up.”
In a statement, Burnley said they “maintain a zero-tolerance policy of discrimination of any kind”. BACKING: Murray
