- EXCLUSIVE by DAVID WOODS

SNUB: Arsene Wenger has rejected Paris St-Germain ARSENE WENGER has turned down the chance to manage Paris St-Germain.

And Starsport can reveal the departing Arsenal boss is keen on taking over the France national team after the World Cup.

PSG, whose owner Nasser Al-Khelaifi is a close friend of the Gunners boss, have made regular attempts to lure Wenger to the French capital.

Despite claims former Borussia Dortmund boss Thomas Tuchel had been lined up to replace Unai Emery this summer, it is understood the club were ready to employ Wenger when it was confirmed he was quitting Arsenal.

But friends of the 68-year-old say leaving the north Londoners a year early – following a falling-out with chief executive Ivan Gazidis, who was pressuring him to go – has hurt Wenger.

Pressure

After nearly 22 years with the Gunners, his claims about wanting to take a break appear to be genuine.

It is also understood, such is his affection for Arsenal, he cannot contemplate taking charge of another club, despite Everton also contacting him to try to tempt him to replace Sam Allardyce at the end of the season.

The feeling among those who know him is that Wenger is coming around to the idea of bossing France, having also been offered the job on numerous occasions.

Much will depend on their showing at the CHELSEA are considering Hoffenheim boss Julian Nagelsmann as their next manager.

Antonio Conte looks certain to leave the Blues this summer and Nagelsmann, 30, has emerged as a surprise candidate to replace him.

Nagelsmann took Hoffenheim into the Champions League for the first time in his debut season and is on course to match that this term. They are guaranteed at least fourth spot if they win their final two Bundesliga games.

Former Barcelona boss Luis Enrique was Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia’s first pick for the job, in tandem with former Chelsea right-back Juliano Belletti as director of football.

But it is believed Enrique’s financial demands were unacceptable to owner Roman Abramovich.

Chelsea then turned to Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri, but Arsenal appear to have persuaded the 50-year-old they are a better option.
