Outsider Jon ready to pull off a Rahm raid at Sawgrass

- GEOFFREY THOMAS

GOLF’S Players Championship is known as the fifth Major and attracts the game’s biggest names, which include 12-1 favourite Rory Mcllroy.

But it is Jon Rahm – fourth in the Masters – who offers punting appeal at 28-1 to succeed at Sawgrass in Florida.

The 23-year-old Spaniard had a stellar amateur career spending an astonishing 60 weeks at world No.1.

Earlier this year Rahm won the PGA CareerBuilder Challenge, which made it four wins in just 38 professional starts – a wins-to-starts ratio that in the last 30 years has only been bettered by Tiger Woods.

It’s the final day of the regular football season outside the Premier League and four teams stand out clearly as betting propositions.

Either Cardiff or Fulham can go up automatically and both look to have winning chances. The Bluebirds are at home to Reading and should make no mistake at Betfred’s and Unibet’s 3-10. Fulham have a trickier assignment at St Andrews but at 8-11 are worth supporting with BetVictor.

Aston Villa look sure to rest players ahead of the play-offs and this makes opponents Millwall the wager at BetVictor’s 31-20.

In League Two, Mansfield still have a chance of catching Lincoln if the Imps slip up against Yeovil. The Stags should beat Crawley at BetVictor’s 1-2.

There will be 40,000 fans at Wembley for today’s Women’s FA Cup Final (live on BBC1) which sees 14-time winners Arsenal take on Chelsea.

PFA Women’s Player of the Year, striker Fran Kirby – who scored twice in the semi-finals against Manchester City – can be the Blues’ matchwinner.
