STEVEN GERRARD is only taking the Rangers job because he doesn’t feel loved at Liverpool.

With Klopp’s No.2 Zeljko Buvac absent amid speculation he is about to take a managerial role, why hasn’t Gerro been offered a job on the coaching staff ? He’s a legend at Anfield.

Make no mistake, the Rangers job is massive. They are a huge club and once you’ve decided you want to leave Liverpool and go into management, it’s too good to turn down really.

But Gerro almost certainly would have rejected it had he been offered a coaching job at Anfield.

The main reason he’s going to Scotland is he doesn’t feel wanted.

I hope he’s a success there. You can only finish second in that league, because they are a million miles behind Celtic.

It’s going to take them time to get close again so the fans will have to be patient and I’m sure there will be thousands demanding success straightaway.

He will be working under big pressure there every week. But that should be good for him, and at least he will be used to it.

I think it’s a big deal for Rangers, getting him. It’s a great appointment for them.

If those players don’t play for Steven Gerrard, they’re not going to play for anyone. He should inspire them. He’s probably still good enough to play in that team!

Also, he could take a few of the young players from Anfield with him on loan and that would be a win-win for everyone.

Liverpool would have some of their best prospects getting good experience and Rangers would be getting some of the best young players in the country.

In his position, if you turn this job down, people would question your ambition.

What’s the best he could hope for in England? A job in League One? It’s such a big opportunity for him. And it could be a great stepping stone. I’m sure he would love to manage Liverpool one day. If he’s successful, Rangers are not a bad first step towards that.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Buvac ends up at Arsenal. He’s supposed to be the brains behind Klopp and he clearly has fans there. But what do Liverpool do if both he and Gerro leave? It leaves quite a big gap on the coaching staff.

You could see how pleased Gerrard was when Liverpool reached the Champions League Final.

From what I saw of Real Madrid, they will probably win it. I thought Real got lucky against Bayern Munich.

There will be loads of goals in that game because both of these sides are really poor defensively. Liverpool have started conceding goals late in games, too, which shows me they are tired.

So the team they put out against Chelsea tomorrow will be interesting. They cannot afford any injuries and they only need a draw.

Even if they lose, all they have to do is beat Brighton on the final day to make sure of a top-four spot, which they will want to do to take the pressure off the final. I can’t see them blowing it now.

Brighton have nothing to play for. They will be safe. It would be amazing if Liverpool slipped up and then it’s all eyes on Kiev.

Real have a knack of turning up in big games, but Liverpool can beat them.

Who would have thought that a few months ago? Nobody gave them a prayer of winning the competition. I certainly didn’t. They were rank outsiders.

Credit to them for getting this far. But even if they win it, you’ve still got to lift the Premier League title for me. That’s where you’re really judged.

You can lose five games and still win the Champions League. You can win it on penalties. It’s a knockout competition, a cup, so there is some luck involved to win it.

But if you win the Premier League title, you have proved you are the best team over 38 games. That’s where you’re really judged. That’s the Holy Grail.

Steven Gerrard knows that, and I think, deep down, the fans do too. If this team really wants to be remembered, it has got to win the league.

It’s been so long since Liverpool did that, it would be massive.

Winning the Champions League again does not compare to that. Look at the final.

There are two teams in it who haven’t won their own league and are miles off again this season.

It devalues the competition, and the achievement of winning it, for me.
