Joshua after a Wild night out

- By CHRIS McKENNA

ANTHONY JOSHUA is confident his next fight will be against Deontay Wilder as talks continue for a unification clash. The WBA, IBF and WBO champion insists he wants the fight but “will not sign his life away” as he called for details on the £36m offer made by the WBC title holder’s team. Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn has been in conversation with Wilder’s management and is flying to New York this week where he hopes to hold face-to-face talks. Joshua insists he wants the fight before the end of 2018 and said: “I do believe it will be next because I want the fight and I believe he wants the fight. “We have got a lot of time to make it happen.

“The stars have aligned and its destiny to get this fight on. It’s a fight to be undisputed heavyweight champion, it’s big.”

Hearn has been reluctant to accept the offer from the American’s team because of concerns over what will be included in the contract.

Wilder’s manager Shelly Finkel says everything would be laid out in detail before any contracts are signed as soon as Joshua says he accepts the offer.

But Hearn and his fighter will not say yes until they get the details which has led to the current impasse.

Joshua added: “The fight is going to happen, there is no doubt about it.

“I can’t sign my life away. You can’t agree something without knowing the devil in the detail.

“It’s the devil in the detail which we will get into. We are professional.”
