A BODYBUILDER tried to claim £150,000 for a back injury but was videoed doing a press-ups challenge with a child on his back.

Hulking Curt Gorog was also filmed lifting weights in a gym while insisting he needed a wheelchair to get around.

A MUSCLEMAN who tried to claim £150,000 for an injured back was caught on video doing a press-ups challenge with a child on top of him.

Bodybuilder Curt Gorog told an insurance firm he suffered a serious injury in November 2012 in a brazen bid to land the personal injury payout.

Separately, he also pocketed £50,000 in benefits from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP).

He even used a wheelchair to attend meetings with benefits officials where he insisted he was unable to work. But hulking Gorog’s plans fell apart when two videos emerged.

One, on his own Facebook page, showed him performing 22 press-ups with a child holding on to his back.

Surveillance footage also showed him lifting heavy weights in a gym.

Ex-construction worker Gorog, 30, of Emley, West Yorks, was asked in court about his muscular physique and replied it was due to “good genetics”.

A judge at Manchester County Court said he had been “extremely misleading” about the claims.

He had also used a wheelchair to “trick” officials into granting him benefits to which he was not entitled. He pocketed more than £50,000 between 2012 and March 2016. The judge ordered him to pay £35,000 in legal fees.

Photos on social media showed him posing next to a new Mercedes car as well as holding champagne bottles.

It also emerged he had been involved in a high-speed car chase with police in 2015.

Detectives told how he had “thrown himself over a hedge to avoid arrest”.

Paul Holmes, head of fraud at legal firm DWF, said: “He was involved in possible criminal acts and attempting to escape from police when supposedly incapacitated.”
