MOYES IS WANTED MAN

- By PAUL BROWN

DAVID MOYES snubbed a Premier League rival to stay at West Ham and says he won’t be short of offers if they go their separate ways.

The Hammers boss, whose side clinched survival with two games to spare, will wait until his contract expires after Sunday’s final game at home to Everton before deciding his future.

Guarantees

But Moyes wants guarantees he will be given a chance to get the club competing for a top-six spot before he commits.

Moyes said: “I could have joined a Premier League club during the season here when I was West Ham manager and I chose not to.

“I’ve got other things if it’s not renewed. It’s not a problem.” It is believed Stoke were the team that approached Moyes when Mark Hughes was sacked in January.

West Ham have yet to decide if Moyes is the man to take them forward but talks are scheduled once the season finishes.

He said: “I’ve been right for a few clubs and I think I’d be right for many clubs.

“My record, the amount of games I’ve had, the amount of wins I’ve got, probably, apart from two or three managers, there’s nobody who’s got a better win ratio.

“For most of my seasons, apart from one last year, I’ve been competing for the top six, eight. I know what you need to get there. I need to see if West Ham are going to get there.

“I want to be a manager pushing for the top six or eight.

“You need the tools for that. I want to make sure I can give the supporters what they crave. There’s a lot to be done.”

Moyes faces former club Manchester United tonight almost five years to the day he was appointed at Old Trafford.

The Scot added: “The time was too short for me for what I hoped for.

“But time’s moved on. If you’re at the top with those clubs, you have to win and be winning trophies.”
