JOHNNY Vegas has split from his wife of seven years as the “curse of Strictly” strikes again.
The TV comic, 46, and Maia Dunphy went public about their separation yesterday.
The couple said they were making the announcement “with a heavy heart”.
TV producer Maia, 41, recently took part in Dancing With The Stars, the Irish version of Strictly Come Dancing.
The pair, who tied the knot in April 2011, have been living apart with Irish Maia spending a lot of her time in Dublin while Johnny remained at the family home in London.
The couple’s statement yesterday read: “It is with a heavy heart that we want to let you know that we separated.
“We are telling people now because speculation is unhelpful at best, and dangerous at worst.
“As we think it’s obvious we continue to fully support each other; there is no acrimony, no story and no-one else involved.
“We have never played out our relationship publicly, so we don’t feel it’s too much to ask for privacy now.”
The Strictly curse roll call includes Jamie and Louise Redknapp, who was runner-up in 2016, and former England rugby union player Ben Cohen, who left wife Abby Blayney for Russian dance partner Kristina Rihanoff.
And pro dancers Kevin and Karen Clifton broke up following last year’s show.
Johnny and Maia, who met on the set of Podge and Rodge, have three-year-old son Tom together.
