LILY Allen was downing a bottle of vodka every day at the height of her booze problem.
The singer revealed that at one stage she could not even taste the difference between water and hard liquor.
The Smile singer, 33, realised she had a real problem while on tour in 2014.
She said: “My drummer came into my dressing room and he put his drink on the table.
“He put his water down next to mine and I could not tell the difference between the two drinks.”
In a soul-baring interview she admitted that in that moment she knew her drinking had spiralled out of control.
“I was like, ‘this is a problem’ because I never really had been a drinker before.
“I always had been a drug taker, and the drinking was an accessory to doing drugs.
“I realised, ‘Oh, f***, I haven’t taken any drugs for ages, but I’m drinking a lot’.” In a shocking admission, she added: “I was drinking a bottle of Grey Goose (vodka) a day. It was really bad.”
Mum of two Lily, who split from Sam Cooper in 2016, said that at the height of her addiction she would start necking spirits early in the morning. Lily revealed: “Part of it was I was really heavy after I gave birth to Marnie, my youngest, and I lost a lot of weight.
“I was down to 8st from 14. I was trying to meet the beauty standards and wasn’t eating and I felt very insecure about the way I looked.
“I lost my house and my kids started to feel distant and I broke up with my husband.” Once she realised that her boozing was out of control, she quit drinking and went sober for six months.
Now she is very strict with herself. She said: “If I’m not feeling 100%, I just stay away from drugs and alcohol, basically.”
