IT ALL ADDS UP FOR HAGGAS

In-form stable ticks the right boxes

- BRETT WILLIAMS

ADDEYBB is 5-1 to handle the step up to Group One company with aplomb in today’s Lockinge Stakes (3.40) at Newbury after very impressive wins at Doncaster and Sandown this season.

Trainer William Haggas (below) has a 24 per cent win rate at the moment and punters are expecting another bold show.

But, in an unusually wide open affair, Unibet have seen cash for plenty of others in the field.

One who is attracting lots of attention is Beat The Bank who is expected to bounce back after a below par run at Ascot last October and is generously priced at 15-2.

Limato sets the standard for many and has proven more versatile in recent seasons so his odds of 9-2 look fair.

But, and it’s a big but, Aidan O’Brien sends over the filly Rhododendron whose fourth in the G1 Prix Ganay is top class form and a 3lbs weight allowance should see her go very well at 3-1 and she tops the betting.

At bigger odds, Unibet have seen a little interest in Zonderland who has clearly been difficult to train but the yard are in flying form and he could reward each way support at 33-1. Elsewhere on a excellent card, Crystal Ocean bids to follow up his Sandown win in the Aston Park Stakes at 2.25.

He only looks to have Raheen House to beat, while the 1.50 is a real corker with lots in with chances including Eqtidaar, the choice of Jim Crowley.

We’ve also seen money for Murillo who was outclassed in the 2000 Guineas and should be more at home in this class. Masaarr has been strong in the Handicap at 3.00.

At Newmarket, Aurum is the best backed in the King Charles II Stakes at 2.40 after making a winning debut at the Craven meeting but that’s not to say Mutaaqeb is without support and his odds are shortening all the time.

In the Handicap at 3.15, Unibet ambassador Richard Hannon is double handed with Mayyasah and Yafta but we’ve laid several chunky bets on the latter who can be expected to strip fitter for his seasonal return when second last month.

At York this week, Unibet trimmed Give And Take into 16-1 from 40-1 for the Oaks after an impressive win in the Musidora and shortened Roaring Lion into 8-1 from 18-1 for the Derby after a demolition job in the Dante on Thursday.
