I’LL MAKE IT ELL FOR JOSH

Selby primed for an away day special

- By CHRIS McKENNA

LEE SELBY is ready to ruin the dreams of Josh Warrington.

The IBF featherweight champion puts his title on the line against unbeaten Warrington at Elland Road tonight.

Leeds-mad Warrington has been waiting for years to fight at the home of his beloved football team.

Former Leeds skipper Lucas Radebe will walk him out with hometown band Kaiser Chiefs playing him into the ring.

But Welshman Selby plans to make the fifth defence of his title before targeting an August 18 showdown with former world champion Carl Frampton.

Like Warrington, Belfast fighter Frampton is set to get his big night at Windsor Park – the home of Northern Ireland football.

Advantage

Selby, who has suffered just one defeat in 27 fights, will face a hostile atmosphere tonight with almost 25,000 fans roaring on their hometown favourite.

“It is set up for Warrington,” said Barry boy Selby, 31. “What more advantage does he want?

“It’s like 10 minutes from his house, his beloved football team, you got some band singing him out, you got footballers walking him out.

“They even tried to get a Yorkshire referee, a Yorkshire judge, but that has been changed – what more does he want?

“It is what it is. On the night it becomes irrelevant. Maybe on the night I will feel like, ‘All these people have shown up for his big night, let’s ruin it’.

“There is a lot riding on this fight. If I beat Josh then I’m happy to go to Belfast to fight Frampton.

“I will have a reputation for spoiling these hometown guys’ big nights. They will be calling me ‘The Nightmare’.”

Selby v Warrington is live on BT Sport and BoxNation from 7.30pm.
