Mum jailed over her £75K claim

A GREEDY mum swindled more than £75,000 of benefits to pay for a boob job and luxury holidays.

Tammy Gunter, 41, pocketed tax credits by claiming she was a single parent.

But she was secretly married to Neil Hart, the dad of her two children, and they lived a “lavish” lifestyle.

The couple spent the money on breaks to Las Vegas and Florida, and took out a £22,000 loan for a holiday home in the US. Gunter also travelled to Eastern Europe for her boob job.

She was handed £76,008 in tax credits between 2007 and 2016, when she was working part-time in a shop and a garage.

Gunter also made false claims for student finance and a £2,000 NHS bursary to train as a nurse.

She even forged a letter, supposedly from HMRC, and sent it to her local council. But officials became suspicious because it had spelling mistakes, and the couple were arrested.

Gunter, of Blackwood,

Caerphilly, later admitted fraud and forgery and was jailed for two years, Hart, 46, admitted encouraging or assisting her, and was locked up for six months.

The mum has now been told to repay £23,358 following a proceeds of crime hearing at Merthyr Tydfil Crown Court.

Nuhu Gobir, prosecuting, said: “The defendant dishonestly maintained she was single. She enjoyed a lavish lifestyle.”

Byron Broadstock, defending Gunter, said she and Hart had a “tumultuous” relationship and her plastic surgery was for “psychological reasons”.
