Emery’s top Gun
RYAN GIGGS admits he wants Real Madrid to beat Liverpool in the Champions League final.
The Manchester United legend hopes the Spanish giants can seal a third straight European crown at the expense e of his former side’s biggest rivals.
“I shouldn’t say this, but I hope Real win,” revealed the Wales boss.
“As a United fan and playing for United for so long, Liverpool were our main rivals and they were our main rivals for a reason.
“They’ve got great history and they’re a brilliant club.
“If you forget about the Liverpool aspect for a second, for Gareth Bale to win the Champions League four times would be magnificent. It would be an unbelievable achievement.
“It’s going to be a fantastic game with two clubs who have brilliant history in the European Cup and the Champions League.
It’s going to be a fascinating tie.
“There will be a lot of quality on the pitch, especially in the forward areas, and I’m looking forward to watching and seeing who comes out on top.” after he spoke to another former Gunner in Patrick Vieira. And an Arsenal source has revealed Vieira was stunned at how little say he would have about transfer activity.
Despite the temptation of starting his management career at such a big club, Arteta, 36, appears to have backed off.
Having such little control over recruitment was also one of the key reasons why Massimiliano Allegri decided to stay at Juventus.
Chief executive Ivan Gazidis, head of recruitment Sven Mislintat and head of football relations Raul Sanllehi will make all the big decisions.
An indication of their power has been shown by the fact that Arsenal are set to sign Greek defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos from Borussia Dortmund, Mislinatat’s former club.
