CRAZED Corrie killer Pat Phelan takes bride Michelle Connor hostage as his reign of terror comes to a bloody end.
The shocking scenes will be aired over five nights next week.
And they will be shown after the 9pm watershed because the action is so graphic.
Connor McIntyre, who plays Pat, said of his gripping exit: “What other way could it have been? It could hardly be a black cab scene for him!”
Psycho Pat is found hiding in a caravan park by Gary Windass and his old army pal Joe Haslam.
They tie him up and hide him in a builder’s yard. But he escapes with help from young Jack Webster and goes on the rampage with a gun.
Pat gives his estranged wife Eileen – who thinks he is dead – a fright by turning up on her doorstep saying: “Boo! Did you really think someone like you could do away with someone like me?”
Then a gunshot is heard from inside the house as one Street favourite gets shot.
Pat then makes his way to the bistro and gatecrashes Michelle Connor’s wedding to Robert Preston.
He takes the bride hostage and locks himself in the kitchen. Armed police surround the building – and fans will have to wait to see who makes it out alive.
Speaking about his dramatic exit after five years on the show, actor Connor said: “The viewers deserve the pay-off and I think it’s a decent one.”
And on Corrie being screened after the 9pm watershed, he added: “It gives us a bit more of a licence to go further with the story.
“We’ve pushed the boundaries. This has been five years in the cooking.”
Connor said that although he is sad to leave, he is satisfied that Pat will become one of Corrie’s most famous characters.
He added: “It’s tinged with sadness, obviously. But I think that Phelan is now part of Corrie lore.
“I feel a great privilege to be one of all those iconic Coronation Street killers.
“I was born nine days after the show first went out. You grow up with it.
“So to be part of that... My mum, God rest her soul, will be very pleased.”
Pat’s finale will air over five nights next week starting on Monday, with all episodes going out at 9pm.
