CAS GET HOL OF A LESSON

Super Saints are on the march

-

JUSTIN HOLBROOK’S ruthless Saints laid bare the challenge of the tough-talking Tigers.

All the hype from the Cas camp this week had been about bursting the bubble of the leaders.

But a Cas side that had hammered champions Leeds last weekend found themselves outclassed here.

They have still got two games in hand on most other teams but this defeat leaves them fifth, 10 points behind Saints.

Holbrook’s men meanwhile continue to prove that they’re the real deal – and far from a one-man team.

Full-back Ben Barba has been grabbing all the glory this season but he’s got a support cast to die for.

Hooker James Roby was once again sheer class in his no-nonsense workaholic way. But it was half-backs Danny Richardson and Jonny Lomax who pulled all the strings in this emphatic win.

Prop Kyle Amor also clearly had a point to prove following his ban in the wake of the Challenge Cup win over Cas two weeks ago.

Amor, who was annoyed that he was alleged to have committed a crusher tackle, powered over for a rare try after just two minutes. Castleford replied with a touchdown from Mike McMeeken but Amor’s effort had fired up Saints to full throttle.

Barba raced 90 metres for a try, Lomax sidestepped his way over the line and Dominique Peyroux added another touchdown for a 22-4 half-time lead.

Ryan Morgan piled on the pressure with two tries early in the second half and Theo Fages then joined the scoring romp.

Cas finally came to life in the final quarter with tries from Jy Hitchcox, Jake Trueman and Oliver Holmes.

But it was too little, too late and Lomax slapped them back into place by putting over Fages for his second try.
