Gorilla wants Kop shot

- By CHISANGA MALATA

DARREN TILL has set his heart on fighting at Anfield after bagging the biggest victory of his UFC career on Sunday night.

Till beat welterweight title challenger Stephen Thompson on a unanimous decision in the main event of UFC Fight Night 130, in front of a sell-out crowd at Liverpool’s Echo Arena.

And after fighting in front of his fellow Scousers for the first time, ‘The Gorilla’ is hoping his next appearance in the octagon will take place at the home of his beloved Liverpool Football Club. “Right now, I could sell Anfield out,” said the 25-year-old.

“Tony Bellew sold Everton out, so I’m going to do Anfield. That’s the next goal.”

However, Till doesn’t mind who he fights in front of the Kop, adding: “Whoever it’s against, I do not care. But that is the next goal.

“Manifestation, that’s what it’s all about.”

Till may have his heart set on fighting at the home of the Champions League runners-up but UFC president Dana White has other plans for him.

“He’s going to Vegas next,” said White. “I hate to break your heart but he’s going to Vegas next.

“I don’t know when or who he will fight but we’ll bring him to Vegas next.”

The prospect of fighting in America excites Till but his goal is a big showdown in his hometown.

He said: “America’s amazing. We all know about Las Vegas and Madison Square Garden.

“But why can’t I be the guy to bring the UFC to a stadium here in England, here in Liverpool?”
