Prince aims for historic four-timer

- By NEIL RANDON

CASPIAN PRINCE will make history if he wins the Investec Corporate Banking ‘Dash’ Handicap at Epsom tomorrow.

It would be the nine-year-old’s fourth victory in the race, and all for different trainers.

Successful for Tony Carroll in 2014, then Dean Ivory in 2016 and Tony Coyle last season, the veteran speedster is now in the care of Michael Appleby.

Other past winners in the 20-strong line-up for the five furlong sprint are David Griffiths’ top-weight Duke Of Firenze, successful in 2013, and 2015 victor Desert Law, trained by Paul Midgley, who also has Tarboosh and Tanasoq in the race.

Among other seasoned sprinters in the mix are Scott Dixon’s Dark Shot, who was only beaten a short head by Caspian Prince last summer, and Carroll’s Boom The Groom, third in 2015.

Last year’s winner Sovereign Debt is among a field of eight declared for the Investec Diomed Stakes.

Ruth Carr’s popular grey was completing a hat-trick when lifting the Group Three prize 12 months ago but has not won since then. He is re-opposed by last year’s runner-up, the Richard Faheytrained Gabrial. David Simcock is double-handed with Arod and Breton Rock while True Valour, from Johnny Murtagh’s stable, is the sole Irish challenger.

Simcock is represented by Soul Silver in the Princess Elizabeth Stakes.

Richard Hannon’s Anna Nerium will be fancied to return to the form she showed when winning the European Free Handicap.
