ALL THE Aces
BIG DRAW
The ‘World Series of Poker’ makes time for a $1,500 No-Limit 2-7 Lowball Draw event today. This is the version with just a single draw instead of three. The No-Limit betting option can really screw with your decision process, however. Like when you suspect your Jack-high might be good because your opponent bet hard then drew two or more cards when you called, but they’ve then shoved all-in to make you agonize over it!
IN THE DRAW
Here PokerStars helpfully outlines the sequence of action that takes place in a SingleDraw 2-7 Lowball hand:
1. Five cards dealt to each player
2. Betting round #1, beginning with player to left of big blind
3. Discard/Draw, beginning with the player to the left of the button
4. Betting round #2, beginning with the player to the left of button
5. Showdown (if necessary).
CARD REMOVAL
FlopDrawRiver.com have a great series of strategy articles covering No-Limit 2-7 Single Draw (http://tinyurl.com/NL27Single). In one they stress the importance of considering ‘card removal’ when you are contemplating how many outs you might have available to draw to. “The distribution of…outs is going to change based on the cards that your opponents are likely to be holding if they are in the hand before you. This is a much bigger factor… than in something like Hold’em.”
