Pop touts’ Sheer hell as star Ed triumphs!

SINGER’S £1M STING

ED Sheeran has hammered the touts for £1million after banning resale tickets at his shows.

The singer warned fans that secondary tickets would not be accepted on his sell-out UK tour.

And tickets sold on Viagogo were cancelled, with fans having to queue up to buy new tickets at face value.

The cancellation means Viagogo is legally bound to give refunds – which could top £1m in total.

Now Ed, 27, is calling on other top names to get behind his campaign.

He said: “Fans have understood that our operation to tackle touts has been about being tough with them.

“But they have always understood our priority is about getting people into gigs, not about kicking them out. We’ll keep on doing stuff like this to protect my fans.” About 20,000 tickets were sold on Viagogo out of 1.2million for his tour.

But without Ed slapping a ban on resales it is thought the company could have creamed off the cash for more than 10 times as many.

His manager Stuart Camp said: “Arctic Monkeys are doing the same thing and they will be enforcing their terms and conditions too, which is crucial to the process.

“We did worry some fans wouldn’t understand, but almost every person we have dealt with has been able to realise that we had to enforce the rules we set at the outset.

“They know that Viagogo are the villains here.”
