PILOT CAN FLY HOME

-

2.00 SALISBURY – IMPRESSIVE Redcar winner CERTAIN LAD can make his experience tell in this auction stakes. He can justify his smart entries and take this before going on to better things. The locallytrained Urban Icon, an impressive winner at Windsor, will more than likely follow him home.

3.00 SALISBURY – AFTER a slow start to the new season Roger Charlton now has his team firing and PILOT WINGS (nb) can add to the Beckhampton trainer’s recent success. He caught the eye when sixth behind Mystic Flight, an impressive winner since at Newbury last month, and he should be ready to open his account. Jurz showed signs of ability last season but he failed to build on that when last of the eight runners on his only outing this season.

4.15 THIRSK – THE progressive MUTAFANI (nap) can add to his recent success at Chelmsford. The form of that contest was enhanced when the third home, Team Division, was an impressive winner on his next start at Nottingham. The colt’s trainer, Simon Crisford, is currently enjoying a purple patch and with champion jockey Silvestre De Sousa in the saddle he will be hard to catch. Zarjaz, a winner at Southwell six weeks ago, appeals as the best option for forecasts.

4.30 SALISBURY – CACOPHONOUS showed that he is going the right way when finishing third behind Al Muffrih at Newbury last month over 10 furlongs. He will be in his element over today’s longer trip. The consistent King Lud again looks set for minor honours.

5.15 THIRSK – THIS longer trip will be ideal for LIAMBA. She finished all too late when snatching fifth place behind Eah Bah Gum at Beverley last month over five furlongs. The handicapper, surprisingly, has dropped her a pound after that encouraging run. On that occasion she was partnered by an inexperienced apprentice, today she has the benefit of the wily Daniel Tudhope. The consistent Mutabaahy will be the threat.

6.40 SOUTHWELL – TOO MANY DIAMONDS (treble) has not looked back since his trainer Dan Skelton claimed him out of a seller. Skelton placed him to win four hurdle races on the bounce last season. This term he has opened his account over fences with two impressive victories. He still looks well-treated by the handicapper.

Copper West failed to win over hurdles but should do better over fences. He won an Irish point-to-point and ran well in defeat in a two-runner event when making his chasing debut at this track last month.
