TV’s greatest villain facing health battle
THE cast and crew of EastEnders last night rallied round Albert Square icon Leslie Grantham as he continued fighting for his life.
Dirty Den star Leslie’s agent confirmed the “poorly” star was being watched round the clock in hospital.
A further statement about the 71-year-old’s condition would be issued “at an appropriate time”.
Stars of the Walford soap were stunned by news of the telly legend’s health battle.
Despite last appearing on the soap 14 years ago, the screen villain is still a gigantic figure in Walford history.
Zack Morris, who plays teen bad lad Keegan Baker, said the whole cast was rooting for him to pull through.
He added: “I hope he gets well soon. We all wish him a speedy recovery.”
Zack’s on-screen mum Lorraine Stanley said they “wish him all the best.”
Leslie’s agent said last night: “He remains poorly and is being taken care of by medical staff.

“No further comment other than to request that you respect the privacy of Leslie’s family and friends. A statement will be issued at the appropriate time.”
Other showbiz names including astrologer Russell Grant and ex-Big Brother star Brian Belo also sent their best wishes.
Russell said: “Very sad news regarding EastEnders star, Leslie Grantham.”
Brian tweeted: “It’s not good news to hear Leslie Grantham is in hospital.”
Fans sent messages of concern for the actor, who was once watched by a record-breaking 30million viewers when Den handed Angie divorce papers on Christmas Day 1986.
One wrote: “Leslie Grantham was always memorable as Dirty Den and one of the finest soap opera villains ever.”
Sad images have emerged of a frail-looking Leslie talking about his time on EastEnders.
