WE’RE good friends with three other couples and the eight of us have hung out together for years.

Now one woman in the group has become politically motivated. She is suddenly very vocal in her beliefs.

Another guy won’t put up with it and we’re all enduring constant rows.

I’m sick of the conflict. It’s so exhausting when all we want to do is go out and have a nice time.

At a birthday party in a restaurant, this woman started going on about America and even my husband told her to shut up.

Then her partner got involved and there was nearly a fight.

I’d booked the table and was humiliated when the owner asked us to leave.

JANE SAYS: There are eight of you in this group and it’s high time that you laid down some basic ground rules.

Sadly, if politics can’t be discussed in an adult fashion then it will have to be banned. Call a meeting of all concerned and make it clear that it would be a great shame if you were to fall out.

OK, so your friend has strong political views, but there’s a time and place for everything and it’s not for her to bore or intimidate everyone else.

Equally, violence is never the answer and the guy who nearly started the fight in the restaurant was bang out of order.

Take control before you all implode and lose a (once great) social life.

Can your politically aware female friend be encouraged to put her considerable energy towards good causes instead?
