Hall or nothing

- By JULIE STOTT

RYAN HALL hopes his England call-up doesn’t backfire on Leeds tonight.

The champions are in the midst of an injury nightmare and going through a crisis of confidence on the pitch.

Five successive defeats have raised fears of a relegation battle and Leeds face a must-win game against ninth-placed Catalans tonight.

They will have to do it without eight key players who are injured – and with Hall away on international duty.

Winger Hall said: “The performances have not been the best and we have got a bit of an injury crisis.

“The 17 players on the field are not producing and as soon as the injured players come back it’s not going to solve it straight away.

“We are going though a down patch and there is a lot of hard work to be done – that is the best way to come out of it.

“Through experience of being in this situation before, we know that you have to leave no stone unturned and get on with it.”

Watch

Hall is in Denver preparing for Saturday’s England Test match against New Zealand but he will be keeping tabs on Leeds tonight.

He said: “It was the same fixture last year when England played Samoa in Sydney and after the game we found a TV to watch Leeds.

“We were losing most of the game but we won in the end and me and Kallum Watkins were celebrating like mad. It was great for us but the rest of the boys were not happy.

“Hopefully we can produce another win against Catalans this time.”

With Watkins out injured, Hall is Leeds’ only international this week and he’s convinced his club can win without him.

He added: “Hopefully we can start producing some good performances leading into the Super 8s and then we can chase down the top four.”

Catalans, who are three points behind seventh-placed Leeds, have won seven of their last nine games.
