Summer’s kicking off

ENGLAND winning, the sun shining – it seems almost too good to be true.

But thankfully, and unlike previous years, this is not a bittersweet dream.

Both on and off the World Cup pitch Brits are banding together as a new optimism sweeps the country.

As well as cheering on our young Lions in Russia, we have a glorious heatwave summer on the way with the mercury looking set to top 35C.

Hard-pressed publicans will welcome the extra custom after years of decline as our pubs burst at the seams.

The beaches this weekend will be packed as the sunshine brings out the deckchairs and ice lollies.

And the nation will pull together as one once more this Sunday as England roar to victory against Panama. So get out there. Enjoy yourself. And cheer on our boys.
