A WOMAN chopped off the tip of her finger in a door and then watched in horror as her dog wolfed it down.
The tip of fitness instructor Kelly Kay’s index finger was completely severed when the door slammed shut on her hand.
But before the screaming 32-year-old could pick it up, her Bichon Frise cross shot across the room and swallowed it whole.
Doctors and vets were not able to retrieve her fingertip.
Kelly lost her finger on Tuesday afternoon.
Then she spent most of Wednesday undergoing plastic surgery at East Grinstead Hospital in East Sussex.
Despite the pain, the dance teacher took the time to post on Facebook that she was going to have to cancel her Clubbercise fitness class, which had been due to take place yesterday. She wrote: “Hi guys.
I’m soooo sorry!!!
“I’ve amputated my finger in a door, and my dog ATE IT !!!!
“Will keep everyone posted, hopefully Thursday will be ok!
“On my way to East Grinstead Hospital for plastic surgery.”
A friend replied: ‘Oh no. Hope they can help and you’re not in too much pain.”
Kelly lives with 31-yearold husband Saul and their dog in a terraced house at Sittingbourne, Kent. After the surgery, the mum posted a picture of herself recovering in hospital with a giant bandage on her hand.
Kelly added: “I see the funny side of this stupid accident.”
