Jail over gun rap

A MAN caught with an old Colt 38 revolver has been jailed for five years.

Police found the weapon in a drawer when they raided Neil Roots’ home.

The gun could fire new ammunition despite its age, a court heard.

Roots, 46, said he found it behind a bookshelf and it was confirmed it had been left by a previous tenant.

A jury at Plymouth Crown Court convicted Roots of possessing the weapon. He also admitted growing cannabis at his home in Tavistock, Devon.
