Bayliss taking a break

- By RODNEY WHITE

ENGLAND coach Trevor Bayliss is taking a break from duties for the T20 Series against Australia and India.

Assistant coach Paul Farbrace will stand in for the one T20 against Australia and three matches against India between July 3-8.

Bayliss will instead shadow the England Lions in their Tri-Series against India A and West Indies A.

While Bayliss is set to leave his role after next year’s Ashes, England stressed that the move was not part of succession planning. Bayliss will return in time for the ODI series against India starting at Trent Bridge on July 12.

Meanwhile, Jason Roy says that it is the urge to seal a World Cup place and avoid being axed again that is driving him on.

The in-form opener aims to help inflict a first-ever ODI whitewash on Australia by England at Old Trafford tomorrow.

Roy (right), who was dropped in the middle of last year’s Champions Trophy, said: “That was heartbreaking for me. But you go away, work hard, you train hard and you get some good results.

“And I’m happy that the results have come my way.”

ENGLAND: Roy, Bairstow, Hales, Root, Morgan (capt), Buttler, Moeen, Willey, Overton, Rashid, Wood.

AUSTRALIA: Finch, Head, Marsh, Stoinis, Carey, Paine (capt) Agar, Neser, Richardson, Lyon, Stanlake.
