Superstar Ed has yet another No1

ED Sheeran was twice forced to stop midway through a gig to dash to the loo.

More than 60,000 fans had to wait when the singer legged it off stage.

The Shape Of You hitmaker blamed drinking too many bottles of water early in his set in Cardiff. Ed first skipped out after his performance of Galway Girl and then again three songs later in the middle of Photograph.

He told fans in the Principality Stadium, which was packed out: “I’m so sorry Cardiff… I need a pee.”

Returning he joked: “I’ve been gigging since I was 14 and I’ve never done that.

“And now I do it in front of 60,000 people.”

The concert on Saturday evening was Ed’s third show of his four-night residency at the stadium. Several fans joked about the short delay. One wrote online: “Day 3 of the Ed Sheeran gig complete. Personal highlight was when he had to take his guitar off in a hurry slap bang in the middle of a song to run to the toilet.

“Then on his return pick up the guitar and just start singing again as if the fans didn’t notice the 5 min silence lol.”

Another commented: “I’ve never seen 60,000 people wait so patiently for someone to go to the toilet... twice #EdSheeran #Cardiff.”

One fan claimed the eventful night also included a man getting down on one knee to propose and a woman giving birth.
