CHEESY CHAT A TURN-OFF

-

TOM Grennan has become the soundtrack to Love Island – but he won’t be pulling “cheesy” moves like the lads.

His track Something In The Water has featured on the show – and Tom’s been name-dropped – but he finds it hard to watch the guys “graft”.

The rising star has labelled the chat-up lines, particularly Dr Alex George’s, as cringe-inducing and insisted he’d never be caught using pick-up techniques.

Tom told me: “I’m not into Dr Alex at all, I think there’s something dodgy about him, he’s a bit snaky and it’s all very cringey.

“It’s the worst thing in the world watching them try, no way would I use lines like some of them are. I just chat – have a normal conversation!

“The one-liners some of them are using are just disgusting, they make me feel sick, that is not me at all.”

However, Tom joked he has been enjoying the female attention since finding fame: “I’m not in it for that but if I am getting more attention from girls then cool. If the girls are into Tom Grennan then, yeah, I love that.”

On Friday, Tom releases his highlyanticipated album Lighting Matches, which could teach the Love Island lads a lesson or two in honesty, as it promises to be some of his most open material.

The Barbed Wire hitmaker teased: “There’s a lot of soul in there, a lot of heart and a lot of pain.

“Getting the chance to honestly share my story, my feelings, my struggle, my pain and my happiness is amazing.”

Tom will mark the LP’s release with the Guinness World Record attempt for the most live shows in 12 hours on July 11, boasting: “I think we will smash it.” Picture: REDFERNS
