A SECOND hospital has been dragged into a murder probe after a nurse was held over eight suspected baby deaths.

Liverpool Women’s Hospital is looking at patients cared for on its neonatal unit when Lucy Letby, 28, did training placements there.

She was arrested this week as detectives look into the deaths of 17 infants and 15 non-fatal tot collapses between March 2015 and July 2016.

Health chiefs said: “A healthcare worker currently involved in a police investigation undertook placements at Liverpool Women’s.

“We are co-operating with police as part of their investigation which includes a routine review of patients cared for on our neonatal unit during the time of these placements.

“There is currently no suggestion that any patients at Liverpool Women’s came to any harm.”

Ms Letby was arrested on Tuesday over suspected multiple murders and six attempted killings at The Countess of Chester Hospital in Chester. She remained in custody last night.

She joined the hospital after graduating as a children’s nurse at Chester University in 2011.

It is understood she completed a work placement at Liverpool Women’s Hospital as a routine part of her training.

Police remained at Ms Letby’s family

STILL IN CUSTODY: Nurse Lucy Letby home in Hereford yesterday as neighbours described her as dedicated to her “dream job”.

One woman said: “Lucy was doing the job she dreamed of doing and appeared nothing but dedicated and professional.

“You can’t imagine her hurting a fly, let alone defenceless babies.”

Meanwhile, the mother of a toddler attacked by serial killer nurse Beverley Allitt in 1991 spoke of her shock at the news.

Sharon Asher’s adopted daughter Kayleyn survived after being injected with air by “Angel of Death” Allitt.

Sharon, 58, of Grantham, said: “I’m devastated.”
