Band reunion shock
LED Zeppelin are in talks to hold a sensational comeback for their 50th anniversary.
Singer Robert Plant, 69, is said to be “mulling over” a reunion despite vowing to never get back together with the band.
He held talks with guitarist Jimmy Page, 74, and bass player John Paul Jones, 72, about hosting events in London in October. A well-placed source said: “Everyone around the band is buzzing. “Jimmy and Robert are talking again and discussing how to celebrate the big anniversary. Realistically this will be the last time that the band has a reason to reunite.” The source added: “At the moment there are many things on the table being discussed and obviously playing live is one of them.
“If they won’t play, then they will get other stars out on stage playing their hits and then they would join in.”
The news will be a surprise to fans as Plant has refused to consider a return since they last played together in 2007.
Early plans were for them to attend a celebration of their work, where other famous artists would cover their tunes.
But it is hoped that Page, Plant and Jones could join them on stage after organisers claimed that “all opportunities are being looked at”.
The trio will appear together to promote their new photo book Led Zeppelin By Led Zeppelin. Deceased drummer John Bonham is likely to be represented by son Jason.
