TRUMP’S HUMP
President’s tour to avoid protests
DONALD Trump’s visit to Britain will see him dodge London as he tries to avoid thousands of furious protesters.
The US President will be whisked off for a tour of England’s historic buildings, before fleeing to Scotland for some golf.
Mr Trump will arrive on Thursday afternoon straight from the Nato summit in Brussels. He will attend a black-tie dinner at Blenheim Palace with his wife Melania. The President and the First Lady will visit an unnamed defence site on Friday, before going to Chequers for a working lunch with PM Theresa May. He and Mrs Trump will then travel to Windsor Castle and meet the Queen before flying off to Scotland that night. However, he will stop for one overnight stay at the US Ambassador’s London residence – Winfield House in Regent’s Park
The move comes amid fears Mr Trump will face a string of angry demonstrations against his controversial policies.
He has faced fierce criticism from many countries, most notably for his stance towards migrants and their kids at detention centres.
During his visit, a “Trump baby” blimp will be flown through Westminster after getting the green light from London Mayor Sadiq Khan.
It now seems Mr Trump will avoid a meeting with the inflatable “lookalike”.
His stay is set to be a key target for the protesters, with activists planning to play the sounds of children screaming loudly outside his room.
He is expected to play golf in Scotland next Saturday, with the Government having little involvement in that side of his schedule.
Mr Trump will then fly out to Finland on Sunday to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin.
