BOOT SPURS KING HARRY
Golden dream for England skipper
HARRY KANE to score first in a 2-0 England win over Sweden looks good value at 14-1.
Strange as it may seem for someone who leads the Golden Boot standings, I feel the Spurs striker is due another goal from open play.
His six goals to date have been three penalties, a fluke and two instinctive strikes from inside the six-yard box from corners.
At Betvictor, England are
7-2 joint-second favourites to win the World
Cup ahead of today’s quarterfinal clash in Samara. Gareth Southgate’s side were good value for their win against Colombia on Tuesday – albeit on penalties – and they should have too much for a limited but well organised Swedish side, who ground out a 1-0 win against Switzerland.
England are 9-10 to win in 90 minutes against the Swedes (18-5) with the draw at 85-40.
A 2-0 England win is
15-2 – that is also the recommendation – but if Sebastian Larsson returns after his one-match ban take the 2-1 for the player to receive a yellow card.
Sweden have not conceded in their last couple of games against Mexico and the Swiss, having been almost written off after their dramatic loss to Germany in their second group game. Go to Stubborn, well-organised and committed, Janne Andersson’s side lack England’s quality but will make things tough for the Southgate’s side.
That said, it would be a huge anti-climax if the Thrre Lions failed to reach the semi-final and a date with either Croatia or hosts Russia in Moscow on Wednesday.
Sweden will miss Mikael Lustig of Celtic, who is suspended and the bottom line is England are a better side.
I expect us to have plenty of the ball and for Sweden to try to break up play.
Their striker Marcus Berg committed seven fouls against Switzerland – without receiving a yellow card – and I hope that the Dutch match referee Bjorn Kuipers is less tolerant than he has been so far, brandishing just eight yellows in three games.
I don’t expect to see a classic tonight when hosts Russia (11-4) entertain Croatia (23-20) in Sochi in the last quarter-final.
The Croats have more quality but both sides qualified for the last eight via penalties and it would be no surprise if the game went to extra-time.
The draw is 2-1 with BetVictor and that is the recommendation.
