ACTORS Sanjeev Bhaskar and Nicola Walker might play cop duo DI Sunny Khan and DCI Cassie Stuart but both reckon they would make good detectives off screen too.

Sanjeev actually once tried to help the police with a real case.

He revealed: “On my road there was a van broken into and tools were stolen. When police knocked on my door about it, I walked to the scene.

“I told them, ‘This is an opportunist crime. You can tell because of where it was parked and the fact it was broken into on that side and this isn’t a road where you would break in.’

“And the policewoman just looked at me. And I went, ‘Sorry. I’ve just played a detective on TV’. I think I’d make a good detective, though.” Meanwhile, Sanjeev’s co-star Nicola reckons she is a great armchair detective and has cracked how to spot the killer in other telly whodunits.

She said: “When I watch shows and there is someone who I think is a really phenomenal actor and they are playing the part that looks like they’re not the killer, I tend to call it very early.

“I think, ‘Oh you’re the killer’ because you wouldn’t take this job unless you had something really juicy to do.” In the new Unforgotten starting on ITV on Sunday, four old friends are under scrutiny when the body of a teenage girl, missing since 2000, is found at a building site off the M1 motorway. °
