999 cuffs plea fury

A WOMAN who put her lover in handcuffs called police in a panic when she lost the key.

The 999 operator was stunned when she asked if a police officer’s keys could fit the lock to free him.

The operator hung up on her, saying it was not an emergency, but she called back to say her partner’s hands “were turning blue”.

Angry Humberside Police said: “Calls like this can mean delays to people who really do need us.”
