HOW THEY RATED

- Compiled by Paul Brown

FORMATION: 3-5-2. JORDAN PICKFORD ......... 7

Made a confident start and commanded his area well. Made good decisions but couple of nervy moments as game wore on. Sensational block in extra-time.

KYLE WALKER .................... 7

Took one in the privates and still got up to make a clearing header. Beaten in the air for Ivan Perisic’s goal.

JOHN STONES ..................... 9

Big early block set the tone. So composed on the ball and always alert to danger. The pick of England’s back three.

HARRY MAGUIRE .............. 8

Just wins everything in the air. An absolute beast. Always ready to step out of defence and pick out a pass too.

KIERAN TRIPPIER ............. 9

The Bury Beckham scored a belting free-kick and continues to prove himself the best right-back in the tournament.

JORDAN HENDERSON ...... 8

First to everything and his usual reliable self on the ball. Always seemed to find the right pass.

DELE ALLI ............................ 8

Won the free-kick for England’s early goal and looked full of confidence after his goal against Sweden. Faded as the game wore on.

JESSE LINGARD ................. 7

Missed a great chance but always wanted the ball and never stopped running. Played a key role in crowding out Luka Modric too.

ASHLEY YOUNG ................. 7

Superb saving tackle in the first half. On the fringes for long spells after that but got forward when he could.

RAHEEM STERLING ........... 7

A man on a mission. Stretched Croatia with his pace every chance he got but he still cannot buy a goal.

HARRY KANE ..................... 7

In the wars and hit the post, only to be called offside. Brought others into play well. Missed a chance to win it in stoppage-time.

SUBS:

Marcus Rashford (for Sterling, 74) Straight into the action. 7

Danny Rose (for Young, 91) Kept trying to get forward down the left-hand side. 7
