Lad dies on beach
A BRITISH holiday teen was killed when he fell under the propellor of the family’s speedboat.
The 15-year-old boy lost his balance and toppled over the side of the rented boat driven by his dad.
His family dragged him back on board and raced to the shore but his injuries were too severe and he could not be saved.
The tragedy came off the Ionian island of Paxi, Greece.
He was on board the speedboat enjoying a sunshine holiday with his parents and his two teenage siblings.
They had been travelling to the main port of Gaios when the tragedy happened.
No names for the youngster who died or his family had been released last night.
They are said to be British but currently live in the US.
An investigation was under way but unusually choppy seas may be partly to blame.
Coastguards and experts said large waves were not ideal for powerful speedboats.
The island’s mayor Spyros Vlachopoulos said the boy had died instantly.
He added: “We offer our sincere condolences and we will assist the family however we can.” AN 18-YEAR-old has died after damaging his spine in a beach accident.
Charlie Dunne, who made headlines earlier this year after winning £200 for finding a limited edition white Creme Egg, was on a day out in Devon.
He was taken to hospital but doctors later withdrew life support.
Charlie had been a student at Aylesbury Grammar School in Buckinghamshire.
Its headteacher Mark Sturgeon described him as a “friendly and helpful young man”.
Meanwhile, dad Andrew Gibson, 24, died after getting swept out to sea while swimming in the sunshine in Swansea at the weekend.
