CHERYL has broken her silence on splitting from Liam Payne, saying: “We don’t hate each other. It just didn’t work out.”

The pop pair, who have a 16-month-old son called Bear, announced they were calling time on their twoyear relationship earlier this month.

Their statement was criticised by Piers Morgan on ITV’s Good Morning Britain after the couple said they still had “a lot of love for each other” despite the break-up. He begged them to be more

“honest” about not liking each other.

But Piers was shocked to later receive a message from Cheryl admitting the statement was embarrassing but insisting she still got on well with the former

One Direction star.

The telly presenter, 53, said she told him: “I hate those kinds of statements, so cringeworthy.

Liam split after the relationship broke down when he toured the globe while she stayed at home with their son. Announcing their break-up a joint statement, they said it was a “tough” decision” but they were determined to be great parents.

The twice-married singer also said she failed to get much sympathy from The X-Factor mogul Simon Cowell. He teased her on a night out: “I had a bet on you splitting from Liam before England were knocked out of the World Cup. It’s coming home!” And Cheryl is said to have replied with “You cheeky b*****d” and she slapped Simon’s shoulder.
