Barkley’s a believer

-

ROSS BARKLEY wants to revive his Chelsea career under new boss Maurizio Sarri.

The former Everton midfielder hopes to emerge as a key player under the Italian having failed to make an impact since arriving for £15m in January.

Barkley, 24, believes Sarri will make Chelsea title contenders again next season after he replaced Antonio Conte at Stamford Bridge.

He said: “The style that he wants us to play is really exciting and very attacking – as well as being very organised.

“We have been understanding what he has been getting across in training. But the more we do it in training, and the more we get used to it, I can see from the training sessions that this season is going to be very exciting.”

The Blues have just returned from their pre-season trip to Australia where they beat Perth Glory 1-0 in Sarri’s first game thanks to a goal from Pedro.

Next up they face Inter Milan in Nice on Saturday.

Willian, who is due to return to training tomorrow, could well figure in that game.

Barcelona appear to be cooling their interest in the Brazil star after Chelsea rejected three bids – including a £65m offer – from the Spanish giants.

Barca last night agreed a £37.3m deal with Bordeaux for his fellow Brazilian star Malcom.
