Unai is Gunner impress

- By JIM VAN WIJK

UNAI EMERY has ordered his Arsenal squad to play with style and swagger.

The Spaniard took charge in May following the departure of Arsene Wenger after more than two decades in charge.

And Emery has given an insight into how he expects his players to approach the new Premier League campaign.

“In each match you are looking for every player to transmit intensity and aggression, to show that they want to win and are prepared to work hard to win,” he said.

“We want to do that with style and personality.

“We want every player to create things and find things on the ball.

Action

“When we are without the ball, we also want to show ambition to recover the ball quickly.

“We want to demonstrate that not only in every match, but also in every training session.

“We want our players to be energetic and full of action with or without the ball.”

Arsenal are currently in Singapore where they face Atletico Madrid tomorrow and Paris St-Germain on Saturday in the International Champions Cup.

The Gunners start the new season against Man City on August 12.

And Emery added: “With the energy of the players and supporters, we know we can start the season with a big performance against a big team.”
