Fan fury doesn’t scare me

Manchester City boss. “But fortunately for me I have never been afraid of anything in my life. I like to have good challenges.

“When I arrived at Villarreal nobody believed what we could do there – and we did it.

“After I finished at Real Madrid I went to Malaga, when I had at least six different options, big options, in six different countries.

“But I chose Malaga even though they were fighting relegation and we built a project there. I hope we can do it here. I am sure that the fans will support the club because they are seeing that something is changing inside.

“I know West Ham fans always like attractive, offensive football so maybe that was one of the reasons why the owner brought me in to manage the team.”

Co-owners David Sullivan and David Gold responded to the fury of fans by replacing David Moyes with Pellegrini and spending £85m on seven new players this summer, including £40m on record signing Felipe Anderson from Lazio. But Pellegrini says they have not finished spending.

“We are trying to build a strong squad,” he said. “The Premier League is not easy. You don’t just need to have a team, you need to have a squad.

“For the moment we have seven new players but we have three important players injured.

“So in the last days that we have time to bring in players, we will try to build as strong a squad as we can.

“We are working together with the board and will see how much money we have now.”
