MAC’S ON BIG HIGH AT SAINTS

- By JULIE STOTT

DETERMINED: McCarthy-Scarsbrook ST HELENS ace Louie McCarthyScarsbrook claims the runaway Super League leaders will never be allowed to get ahead of themselves.

That’s because there’s always a put-down in store if they do.

The forward said: “Justin Holbrook is a calm, cool character and he does not lose his head.

“He insists we take it game by game rather than what’s coming up.

“But Jamahl Lolesi is the nutter – he’s the one who shouts and hollers at us and swears.”

Head coach Holbrook and his assistant Lolesi have worked wonders this season, with Saints 10 points clear at the top.

They have already booked a Grand Final semi-final spot even though there is still one game of the regular season to play before the Super 8s.

Saints face third-placed Warrington at home tonight and then play Catalans in the Challenge Cup semi-finals next week.

McCarthy-Scarsbrook said: “We want to finish the competitive season on a high so we want to beat Warrington and go a couple more points ahead in the table.

“We won’t be looking ahead to Catalans because this is a big game for us against Warrington.”

Winger Adam Swift is injured but centre Mark Percival and full-back Ben Barba are expected to return.

Third-placed Wolves have Bryson Goodwin, Ben Murdoch-Masila and Ben Westwood back.
