Mour cash fears for Jose

-

JOSE MOURINHO is becoming frustrated at Manchester United’s refusal to spend big this summer.

A source close to the Old Trafford manager revealed last night that Mourinho fears his bosses are more concerned with finances than winning silverware.

Starsport revealed yesterday Mourinho’s top transfer target, Leicester ® and England defender Harry Maguire, has been valued at around £80m.

Mourinho (right) has been told he needs to offload Marcos Rojo first, but he EXCLUSIVE by DAVID WOODS

has doubts about whether the board have the enthusiasm to invest such a big fee on Maguire.

Similarly, France star Anthony Martial’s sale will finance a replacement, possibly Croatia winger Ivan Perisic from Inter Milan.

But the lack of investment to help him challenge champions Manchester City is annoying Mourinho.

Asked about United’s summer targets, Mourinho’s associate said: “The truth is so easy – the owners don’t want to spend money. The profits are paying the banks.”

United did buy Brazil midfielder Fred for £50m and Portugal Under-21 defender Diogo Dalot for

£20m. But that’s it.

With the transfer window closing in 12 days, newly-promoted Wolves are keen on Rojo, who only signed a new three-and-ahalf-year deal in March.

United want up to £30m for the player, who has not joined up with United on the tail-end of their US tour.

Matteo Darmian, also 28, is heading through the exit door, with both Milan clubs in for the Italian.

Darmian is determined to seal his exit as quickly as possible, even if that means leaving United in the lurch.

Mourinho is short of right-backs, with skipper Antonio Valencia and new signing Dalot both injured.

Neither will be fit for United’s Premier League opener at home to Leicester on August 10, meaning that

£15m-rated Darmian is in contention to start in the problem position.
