DARREN MOORE can lead West Brom back to the Premier League at the first attempt this season.

Despite a superb start to his managerial career, Moore was unable to stop the Baggies crashing into the Championship last term after stepping in following the disastrous reign of Alan Pardew.

But former West Brom striker Robert Earnshaw is backing his old team-mate to deliver promotion.

“I know Darren well,” said Earnshaw ahead of tomorrow’s opener at home to Bolton.

“The blessing in West Brom’s relegation was him getting the job. The work he did in the two months or so he was in charge was amazing.

“In one respect the club were obviously devastated about going down, but at the same time they can now go back to basics and I’m very happy for Darren.

“I think he deserves it and before he was officially appointed I was urging them to give him the job full time. He can take West Brom back up, 100 per cent.

“Mooro is a great guy and he’s very much loved off the pitch.

“He really understands football and he has a lot of qualities which make the team he coaches even more effective.

“If you can influence the players in the right way you can get the results and we saw that with West Brom winning at Manchester United last season.

“He’s a coach who has been in the background for a while and now he’s been thrown in at the deep end, but he’ll do a great job.”
