“His dad (Frank Senior) was a coach in an elite club, so he will get some help as well, and obviously from Harry (Redknapp, his uncle).

“Frank was a player who thought about football.

“When you play all your life in one of the best clubs in the best league in the world, in midfield, then obviously you have to have a good understand­ing of the game.

“I can say he has always been a character who was not afraid to say what he thinks. He has everything a manager needs to be a success.”

Cech has no immediate plans to retire but admits the older he gets the more appealing management becomes.

He added: “The more experience­d I get, the more I think that it is something I would want to try.

“I have been doing my coaching badges with the Czech FA, so I am on a good way. Then I will do the UEFA Pro License and then I will probably open an opportunit­y for myself if I want to.

“I always said the decision to retire will probably be in my body or in my motivation but my motivation is the same as 20 years ago, so that’s what carries me on every day to work hard and perform.

“If in six months I start falling apart and my body says stop then obviously it will be a different story.”

Cech faces a battle to be Arsenal’s first choice keeper this season following the arrival of Bernd Leno from Bayer Leverkusen.

But Cech aims to show Gunners boss Unai Emery he deserves to be No.1.

He said: “You just do your best, then the manager has his choice to make.”
