Kelechi’s set to fire for Foxes

- By JAMES NURSEY

KELECHI IHEANACHO insists he is finally ready to fire for Leicester in the Premier League.

Iheanacho is in line to face Manchester United on the opening night of the season next Friday.

Boss Claude Puel has already confirmed he will not consider Jamie Vardy as he won’t be ready after his post-World Cup holiday.

Nigerian international Iheanacho cost £25m a year ago from Manchester City.

But it took him until March to score his first top-flight goal and he managed just two more and eight in total.

He ended last season with a screamer at Wembley against Tottenham on the final day before going to the World Cup.

Now his injury worries are behind him too and he has netted in successive pre-season friendlies after scoring in Wednesday’s 1-1 draw at home to Valencia.

“As a player if you have an opportunity you have to take it,” he said.

“If I am chosen for the game against United I have to keep my goalscoring record and work hard.

“Everyone would be happy to play the first game of the season. I would like to be part of it and am looking forward to it.

“I think it is going to be a big season for the whole team and we are in good shape now.

“I am injury-free and will keep working hard.”
