A couple of years later, Kanye’s wife, Kim Kardashian, was one of the celebrity guests on Phenomenon, an American TV show hosted by Tim, where contestants competed to prove their mind control skills.
“The celebrities would sit on a sofa and the contestants would use them as guinea pigs for their illusions,” explains Tim.
“What they didn’t know was that occasionally a mild electric shock – more of a surge, really – would be run through the sofa so that the unwitting celebs would squeal with delight at appropriate moments without quite knowing why.
“Nobody believes me when I tell them we ‘electrocuted’ Kim Kardashian. But it’s true.”
While he’s flying high in his professional life, Tim has also recently found love with partner Gemma Charles. The pair only met last October, via a dating app, but they are already expecting twins later this year.
And Wrexham-born Tim has been asking his famous friends for their advice on fatherhood.
He reveals Tom Cruise had some simple tips.
Tim explains: “He told me to treat each child as an individual, a person in their own right, which is particularly pertinent if you’re expecting twins.”
And Simon Pegg has warned against feeling like a spare part.
“It’s all about the mother and the babies and the feeding, Simon said. You may feel a bit redundant but it’s not about you.
“The most useful thing you can do is simply to be there for your partner.”
And James Corden had a clever tip. “He said that I should choose a shawl or blanket – whatever we’re going to use for the babies – and either sleep in it now or wear it round your shoulders when you’re watching TV.
“That way, it will be impregnated with your smell, which they will find comforting when they are wrapped in it. I’m going to give it a go.”
Tim is clearly besotted with Gemma. “She’s half-Moroccan, half-Grenadian and stunningly beautiful,” he says.
“She’s very clever – she did a law degree. She has worked as a television producer. And she is very funny.
“She’s 10 years younger than me but that was not an issue for me and it did not seem to be one for her.”
Even though they had only been together a few months, the pair were thrilled to discover they were expecting twins.
“It was planned,” says Tim. “In fact, we talked about children on our very first date.
“I know it’s going to be hard work. Sleep is going to be a precious commodity. It’s scary.”
But he is not bothered about being an older first-time dad.
He says: “I’ve got life experience. So my feeling is that I will just go with the flow.”
